What Is Theoretical Orientation?
A therapist’s theoretical orientation is their personal approach to understanding problems and guiding treatment. It’s like their roadmap for helping you. Some focus on your past, others on present thoughts and behaviors, and many blend different methods. Knowing your therapist’s orientation helps you understand how they’ll work with you, so you can find the right fit. When therapy matches your needs and style, it’s more effective and more empowering. Knowledge is power.
Thrive by Design LLC Theoretical Orientation
My therapeutic approach is rooted in an eclectic blend of evidence-based practices and humanistic values. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and art therapy techniques, while drawing deeply from existentialism and person-centered therapy.
At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert of your own life. I see therapy as a space where you are truly heard without judgment, supported in your self-discovery, and guided toward clarity and purpose. I believe we all have a natural desire to understand the meaning of life and our unique role in it.
I draw from multiple approaches, including Gestalt, psychoanalysis, and narrative therapy, to create a personalized experience that meets your needs.
I believe self-awareness is the first step toward change. Anxiety is part of being human, but it doesn’t have to take over. We can learn to welcome it, understand why it’s there, and then choose when it’s time to let it go.
To me, anxiety is like a houseguest. We can invite it in, listen to what it has to say, and when we’re ready, kindly show it the door—until it visits again. Through this process, we begin to reclaim our power and move toward a more meaningful life.
